Each county in Indiana has a soil and water conservation district (SWCD).
Indiana's conservation districts are structured for local leadership. The Wells County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a subdivision
of state government led by a local five-member board of Supervisors.
The SWCD
provides leadership and administers programs to help people conserve, improve
and sustain our natural resources and environment through total resource
planning and treatment within watershed areas.
- Provides information and technical assistance to
landowners through partnerships with local, state and federal agencies.
- Assists landowners with planning and installation of
conservation practices.
- Provides financial assistance for projects that conserve,
improve and sustain our natural resources.
- Determines and addresses natural resource education needs
in Wells County.
- Determines and addresses forestry, wildlife, soil and
water resource needs in Wells County.
- Recognizes landowners for their efforts to protect and
enhance our environment by the wise use of our natural resources.
- Partners with the Rock Creek Conservancy District, and
serves as a member of the Upper Wabash River Basin Commission to further
natural resource conservation efforts.
| The Wells Co. Soil
& Water Conservation District meetings are
held the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the NRCS/SWCD
office, 117. W. Harvest Road, Bluffton, IN. The agenda is posted at
the office location. The meetings are open to the public. |
